Managing Partner, Hoffmann & Baron, LLP Guests On Public Affairs Show

Daniel A. Scola, Jr., Managing Partner, Hoffmann & Baron, LLP, was recently a guest on the “Good Neighbor Podcast”.  Along with Host Garfield Bowen, Scola discussed the importance of protecting intellectual property assets for both businesses and entrepreneurs.

Scola discussed the misconceptions most people have when sharing their ideas. “The one mistake that people make is they come up with an idea and they think, ‘I should run this by other people to see if they think it’s a good idea.’ They disclose their idea or invention, etc., without having a confidentiality agreement in place. By then, it’s too late to protect.”

Additionally, Scola spoke about an area of law that is not taught but rather learned with experience – the art of building connections with people before you ask them for business. He stressed the importance of communication when trying to approach future clients. “The more contact you have with someone, the more trust you build, and the more you know about each other helps both of you form a relationship which often leads to business.  This is a skill not taught in law school.”
