Overview

Prior to his career as a patent attorney, Claude was an engineer for nearly 7 years. As an engineer, he designed communication devices and systems used in the early days of digital communications. He has extensive experience in designing and testing systems and devices used in military and commercial communication systems. As in-house counsel at Bell Labs he worked with some of the world’s leading engineers, which allowed him to hone his technical skills and use such skills to his advantage when practicing patent law.


Practice Expertise

Preparation and prosecution of patent applications. Managed U.S. outside counsel and overseas outside counsel while working in-house at Bell Labs. Writing infringement opinions and noninfringement opinions as part of preliminary steps in licensing and litigation matters. Worked closely with engineers and other technical staff during the development and/or design stages of products to avoid infringement of known third party patents. Mined wireless communication patent portfolios for patents believed to be Standard Essential Patents and worked with engineers and scientists located in the U.S. and overseas to identify such patents and to generate supporting claim charts.
